ATTENDING THE NURSERY

The Almond Park Nursery

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

OUR WHOLE APPROACH FOCUSES ON CREATING A FUN YET EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN TO BE IN.

Almond Park Nursery - learning and development

Staff observe each child’s strengths, developmental needs and interests and uses them to plan appropriate learning experiences for each child. We devise an individual on-line learning plan for each child and observations are used to build up a profile of each child’s growth and development during their time at nursery. This is accessible to all families through our Famly App, all parents are given individual login details when you register with us. The online journal can be downloaded by PDF when your child transitions to school.

WE RECOGNISE THAT PARENTS ARE A CHILD’S FIRST EDUCATORS AND WE AIM TO BUILD ON THE LEARNING THAT EACH CHILD BRINGS TO THE NURSERY.

PROMOTING POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR

Our nursery follows a number of ‘golden rules’ to promote positive behaviour:

  • We are kind and gentle to one another
  • We are helpful
  • We use our quiet voices
  • We take care of things
  • We listen to other people
  • We share and take turns
  • Children are respected and valued at all times and parents will always be notified if their child is experiencing difficulties

CHILDREN WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS

We can also provide places for children with additional needs. An additional support need comes from anything which is a barrier to learning. The local council  has many legal duties towards children with additional support needs. Information about this is contained in a booklet called 'In On The Act: Information For The General Public' which is published on the local education authority website at www.eastlothian.gov.uk.
